4th of July Crafts

Doing crafts with the boys is my favorite! As Fourth of July approaches we like to decorate the house and put up things that make things festive. Using things the boys create makes them feel proud when they see it hung and it makes my mama heart happy! I pick up the blank canvas in various sizes from Walmart, Target or Michaels. Michael’s has great coupons and sales, if you watch for them! For this project, I wanted the boys to make a few different pieces. We decided on fireworks, stripes and a flag.

Here’s what you will need:

  • Blank canvases

  • Craft Paint (red, white & blue)

  • Toilet paper roll

  • Scissors

  • Paint brushes

  • Paper plates

  • Pencil

  • Sponge cut into a star shape

I cut the tips of the toilet paper roll at one end and flared out the ends so it would resemble a firework. Then on one blank canvas a drew lines with the pencil to resemble a flag. (It wasn’t accurate but just resembled the flag for the kids.) and on the last canvas I drew stripes so the kids could practice staying in the lines with different colors.

I poured the paint on paper plates for them to dip and they loved being able to do this independently. Their favorite part was stamping the stars. They also really liked mixing all the colors together! This was really fun for the kids and we hung them all over the house.
